POLBETH COLTS PEEBLES MAY 2007
Davie leading the blue corner, Tom, Ryan and Nabby, formidable up front, Martin, Scott and Callum defending to the death and Brian saving the day in goal.
Stevie heading the red corner, Michael, Aaron and Connor, the fighting frontline, Kieran, Pineapple and Sid closing forces at the back, Dean on Guard duty in goal, and Sean the man of every position.
Yeah well that’s how the story was meant to read!!!. Both teams played with the usual heart and soul, hungry and determined to do their best. Playing against exceptionally great teams from as far a field as France (
Who knows what they are fed, but its normal for these lads to be shaving daily by age 12!!! HUGE!)The boys gave it their all but disaster after disaster struck, as our determined young players were dropping one by one from injury! Big decisions to make for the two coaches, where are we going to get more players? Stuuuuuart! Go get changed you're on! Kieran give it all you got and get in goal. And oh did Kieran?! Fantastic performance by the regular right back, and a gritted determination by the rest of the lads took them to a place in the semi finals. A massive team effort by all the lads, reds, blue and the majority black and blue wasn’t' quite enough to take the lads onto the final.
However the finale of the presentation was to restore pride and honor within the young Colts team as the Club was awarded 'FAIRPLAY' trophy marking their exceptional conduct, behavior and friendly disposition throughout the weekend tournament. As players and parents enjoyed and appreciated the award, there was one last final surprise in store. GOALKEEPER of the tournament was awarded to our very own KIERAN PRIDE! Well-done Kieran, a brilliant achievement for our regular right back.
The coaches would like to give a BIG thank you to All parents and guardians who made the weekend all that more enjoyable and who braved the Scottish elements.
